So you want to do something with your vector pattern in Illustrator, once you've exported it? No problem, here are some tips!

Tip: Export as tile

We recommend exporting your pattern as a tile, not as a surface.

A tile gives you the smallest file with the most flexibility afterwards. For this article, we will assume you have exported your pattern as a tile.

You will find the Tile option in the Export panel. On the right, you'll see a preview of the resulting tile.

Create pattern swatch in Adobe Illustrator

Open your exported file in Adobe Illustrator.

Have a look to make sure the export went well. If you the pattern looked different in Repper, check our Vector Troubleshooting article for possible causes and solutions.

To create a pattern:

  1. Select the entire tile
  2. Go in the menu to Object > Pattern > Make
  3. An info dialog may pop up (feel free to read it and dismiss it)

You will now see your pattern repeated (albeit faded) and a Pattern Options panel should have come up:
